Vestel to Supply Flight Information Display Systems for World’s Largest Airport

2017-08-16 | Just months after fulfilling the world’s largest tender for the distribution of interactive flat panels displays (the Fatih Project), AV giant, Vestel has won another monumental bid, this time to supply 49” and 55” flight information display (FIDS) electronic monitors for what will be the world’s biggest airport. Further extending its lead as a professional AV solutions global player, Vestel is set to supply screens for a 7,659 hectare Turkish aviation site, which is currently being built to replace Istanbul’s under-sized and over-trafficked Ataturk Airport.

Vestel’s flight information display electronic monitors will be fundamental to the success of Turkey’s new Third Airport, providing non-stop flight information in real time to keep the heavy flow of passenger traffic moving. Ensuring 24/7 operation along with longer panel life-times of up to 100,000 hours, the FIDS electronic monitors not only offer Full HD resolution, but also high brightness levels of 700 Nits.

Allowing information to be displayed in both landscape and portrait modes, the OPS compatible screens can be fitted in a wider variety of spaces. Expected to offer flights to and from as many as 350 destinations, the airport will require unprecedented technological support to ensure that flight times and updates are processed and accurately displayed. With 40% of construction already underway, the airport could be up-and-running as soon as October 2018.

Of the tender, new UK Head of Visual Solutions Sales, Mark Dew comments, “Consolidating our position as a major player on the global AV arena, this project exemplifies our versatility and reach. Whilst we may be known as one of the largest suppliers of interactive flat panel displays, we also have unlimited potential in the digital signage sector, offering customised hardware solutions as well as our own and partner software options.  With this tender, we had to fend off world-leading competition, winning the FIDS business based on our products’ performance, quality and price.”
